The Permian Basin Chapter is planning a wine packed fall. Here's a taste of what we're planning.
SEPTEMBER 18th - CHONGO GALINDO MEMORIAL POLO MATCH
Midland Polo Club - 5401 Polo Club, Midland, TX 79705
This is a USPA sanctioned event. You have heard about tailgating at NFL and college games. We're going to tailgate a polo match. This will be like the lawn concerts. Bring your lawn chairs and wine. The chapter will be providing a sparkling and light snacks. The featured game will start at 3:00 pm but we plan on being there early to get a prime location as they play several matches during the day. Look for the white canopy. So come out and help us "stomp the divots".
SEPTEMBER 20th - "GETTING TO KNOW YOU"
Grasslands Estate Clubhouse - 5800 Crowley, Midland, TX
Invite your friends and make your plans to attend our Annual Membership Event. Bring your favorite wine for a little show and tell. We will provide fabulous foods to compliment. Free for Members and only $5 for guests. This is our opportunity to share a broad range of wines and let others know about our chapter. We will be meeting at 7:00 pm. OCTOBER 15th - "TEMPRANILLO TASTING" - Hosted by John & Stephanie Latimer

Spain's answer to Cabernet Sauvignon has made its way to Texas and around the world. We will be comparing two of our best Texas Tempranillo's - Lone Oak Winery and Inwood Estates to those from Penedes Spain, Argentina, Australia and Paso Robles, California. This will be a 4 course serve yourself dinner. The festivities start at 7:00 pm on the patio of John & Stephanie's home, 6940 Sleepy Hollow, Odessa, TX 79762. Cost will be $40 Members and $45 Guests. NOVEMBER 5th & 6th - "McKITTRICK CANYON WINE HIKE" - Carlsbad, NM
Make plans now to join us for our annual wine hike. You won't want to miss this one. We have changed hotels this year to the Fairfield Inn & Suites for Saturday night. They will allow us to have our complementary WST pizza party in the Inn's breakfast room. Just bring some extra wine to have with your pizza. Early to rise on Sunday morning (depart 7:00 am, Mountain) with a 1 hour drive to McKittrick Canyon (park opens 8:00 am, Mountain). We will depart the parking lot around 8:30 am, Mountain or 9:30 am Central for those joining us that morning. It is a 2 mile hike to Pratt's Cabin where we will all share the food and wine we have brought. Fall colors should be at their peak, so bring a camera. For those who find the Pratt hike too strenuous a second group will be hanging out at the trail head.
A block of rooms are reserved under the group name "Wine Society of Texas" at a rate of $109 + tax for a single and double bed room. This will be available until October 22nd. Please note you will be responsible for your own room reservations. If you plan on joining us in Carlsbad please let me know.
