Celebrate The Friendship Between Texas and France
October 20 @ 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm CDT
Inspired by last month’s Wine Society of Texas Annual Meeting in Denison, TX, please join us for a celebration of a legendary wine-inspired friendship between Texas and France! Denison, the birthplace of Eisenhower and sister city of Cognac, may be more famous in France than in Texas. Why? It was also the home of Thomas V. Munson, the Texan horticulturist who saved the French wine industry from phylloxera.
There is no better way to salute this friendship which was established in 1887 than sipping some French wines and learning more about Munson through photographs and discussion!
We’ll serve Coq au Vin, some hors d’oeuvres, and a lineup of French wines made possible by T. V. Munson. Possibly from Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne, Loire, Tannat or maybe Sauterne.
You can bring:
– a bottle of French wine or Texas wine made from French grapes, and
– a French-inspired dish to share.
We’d also like to use this opportunity to get to know your friends who might be interested in joining the Wine Society of Texas!
Time: 15:00 to 20:00 or onward
Location: 8211 Fairhope Place, Houston, 77025
