Winemaker Patrick Campbell
A lifelong wine enthusiast, Patrick’s venture into winemaking began 10 years ago with a single-vineyard Diamond Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon. From there, he produced a Dry Creek Valley Cabernet before achieving his ultimate goal; producing Cabernet from Howell Mountain, one of the most celebrated regions in Napa Valley.
The scarcity, high demand and impeccable quality of Howell Mountain fruit appealed to Patrick’s desire to craft boutique, age-worthy wines. Praised by Alicia Mondavi as “one of the best’ Cabernets on Howell Mountain, it won a gold medal in the San Francisco Chronicle’s International Wine Competition.
Patrick is certified in the Court of Master Sommeliers, and is currently touring Texas with the Howell Mountain Association. His side trip to the Wine Society of Texas brings him full circle. It was in Midland-Odessa where he first began studying wine years ago.
We will be pouring his 2013 Chardonnay, Russian River Valley, Bacigalupi Vineyard; 2013 Pinot Noir, Anderson Valley, Helluva Vineyard (Double Gold 2015 SF Chronicle); 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon, Howell Mountain, Elsberg Vineyard (Gold – 2016 SF Chronicle); 2013 Cabernet, Mt. Veeder, Wildcat Vineyard (Silver – 2015 SF Chronicle); 2014 Cabernet, Howell Mountain, Elsberg Vineyard.
