West Texas Chapter – Vision Cellars, Alexander Valley Wine Tasting

February 20, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm CST

Vision Cellars Wine Tasting with Mac McDonald at Mi Piaci Restaurant, Odessa

Proprietor and winemaker Edward Lee (affectionately known as Mac) McDonald is one of the few African-American winemakers in California. He grew up in Texas where his father was a moonshiner. His epiphany and experience with Burgundy wines led to him founding his label with his wife Lil in 1995 after spending 35 years working for Pacific Gas & Electric Co.. The first wines came from the 1997 vintage.

He currently produces multiple Pinot Noirs including appellation wines from Anderson Valley and Sonoma County, and vineyard-designate wines from Cole Ranch Vineyard in Mendocino County, Chileno Valley Marin County, Rosella’s Vineyard, Garys’ Vineyard and Las Alturas Vineyard in the Santa Lucia Highlands. The style shows attractive richness yet with a modicum of elegance and the wines have received very favorable wine press.

He currently produces multiple Pinot Noirs from the appellations of Russian River, Sonoma County and the Santa Lucia Highlands.  We will also taste his Napa Cabernet Sauvignon blend which has been rated 92 points in the Wine Spectator.

The cost of the wine dinner will be $40 Members and $45 Guests (taxes and gratuity included) and will be held at the Mi Piaci Restaurant, 2607 N. Grandview, Odessa, Texas.  It will start at 7:00 p.m.  Please RSVP Shirley Choate by February 18th by return email or by phoning 432-553-6408. The restaurant can only seat 40 comfortably in their private room so it will be limited to the first 40 to reserve.
